The Trip of A Lifetime
Sometimes, opportunities present themselves that are just too good to pass up and I’m grateful to say, one came my way and I’m about to dive in head first.
On December 15th, my family and I are going to pack up our home, put it all in storage, and take off on a journey around the world for 9 months with only some clothes, a laptop, a phone, and of course surfboards. 😳
What brought us here started last year with the decision to do a major remodel of our house. But with rents so expensive in our hometown, having not traveled internationally since the pandemic, finally having a break in consulting projects, and being at a crossroads in my career, this seemed like a great way to accomplish multiple objectives at once:
✅ save money
✅ travel
✅ take a break
✅ step outside routine for introspection.
I've already been told I'm crazy to try and pull off traveling to 10 different countries with my two kids, including my 2-year-old who has yet to be on a long-distance or international flight. But when the stars aligned the way they have for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I just couldn’t pass it up.
So why am I telling you this?
1) To state on the record that this decision is NOT due to a mid-life crisis. 😜
2) To ask for your prayers for safety and patience. Lord knows my wife and I are going to need them on multiple 10+ hour flights with two jet-lagged kids 😑
3) To let you know that there may be some periods where I'll be on some adventures with no cell signal/wi-fi or doing a digital detox for introspection. So please don't think I'm dead if I don't immediately respond to messages/emails/calls or theres extended gaps between social media posts. 😎
4) To encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and seize once-in-a-lifetime opportunities when they come across YOUR path, and they will. 🤔
5) To ask that if we've met and you're in Buenos Aires, Florianopolis, Central/Coastal Chile, New Zealand, Brisbane, Singapore, Japan, Dubai, France, or Italy and would like to get together and catch up, let me know! 🤝
